The ceremony for presenting Bolesławiec with the Council of Europe Plaque of Honour took place on Saturday, 25 August, in the Forum cinema auditorium at BOK-MCC. Among those attending the ceremony were Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik, Consul of the Russian Federation Igor Oszczepkow, representing the Council of Europe Edeltraud Gatterer, MPs Zofia Czernow and Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska, Senator Jan Michalski, Lower Silesian Deputy Marshal Jerzy Łużniak, representatives of partner cities, as well as honorary citizens of Bolesławiec, including Rev. Edward Bober.
Bolesławiec is among the three Lower Silesian cities that have received the Council of Europe Plaque of Honour. This is the third Council of Europe distinction awarded to Bolesławiec (previously, our city was honoured with the European Diploma and the Flag of Honour). Piotr Roman accepted the plaque from Edeltraud Gatterer. “Today we feel it and say it with even greater conviction: I am a resident of Bolesławiec, I am Polish, I am European,” the mayor said.
