A Reader asked us to publicize the matter. In an email to the editorial office, he wrote: “I am a resident of Karola Miarki Street and would like to draw your attention to the renovation of the rear area near our street. I wonder whose goodwill was lacking to renovate the entire rear area. As can be seen in the attached photographs, from the Tyrankiewiczów Street side, approximately 2 meters of pavement are missing, and just as it was possible to damage a suspension system in this place, it will continue to be possible. Obviously, abandoning the renovation of the entire rear area will also mean that HUGE puddles will CONTINUE to form – as in the past.” He added: “An investment carried out in this way misses the point; it is money thrown down the drain.”
“It is difficult to call this a renovation of the rear area,” immediately clarifies Jarosław Karbowski, head of the Municipal Housing Management Authority in Bolesławiec. “Renovating the rear area is a comprehensive project involving, among other things, drainage, lighting, the installation of playgrounds, the construction of parking spaces and green areas. At Karola Miarki Street, MZGM renovated the entrance from Tyrankiewiczów Street and the access road to the bin enclosure. It was merely an emergency repair, carried out because of the disastrous condition of this entrance.”
As the director of the municipal authority explains, an architectural design is needed to carry out a comprehensive redevelopment of the rear areas near Karola Miarki, Tyrankiewiczów and Dzieci Wrześni streets. Preparing one costs between PLN 15,000 and PLN 40,000. MZGM currently has no money for this purpose. “Last year, we renovated 11 rear areas,” Karbowski explains. “If we have the funds, next year we will redevelop the rear areas of Spokojna Street and Tysiąclecia Avenue, as well as those of Marcinkowskiego, Zygmunta Augusta and Wojska Polskiego streets. These two investments will be carried out first because architectural designs have already been prepared in both cases.”
It appears that residents of Karola Miarki, Tyrankiewiczów and Dzieci Wrześni must be patient. We will return to the matter.
