The detention took place on July 16. Two residents of Bolesławiec, aged 24 and 38, fell into the hands of the officers after stealing metal fence elements. The suspects then wanted to sell them at a scrap-metal collection point and spend the money on alcohol.
The fence owner estimated the losses at PLN 400. The perpetrators were drunk when they were detained.
Both men from Bolesławiec had previously been convicted of similar offenses. They now face up to five years in prison.
