From April to June, during five-day training camps, students from military-profile classes under the patronage of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando” and the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment acquired skills in tactics, drill, firearms and first-aid training, learned elements of mountaineering, and underwent a fitness test.

The young people also had the opportunity to meet representatives of the Military Recruitment Office in Bolesławiec. In addition, members of a bomb-disposal patrol informed the students about the rules for handling explosive materials, while Military Gendarmerie officers conducted preventive-training sessions.

The main organiser of the training, which has enjoyed considerable interest among schools from across Lower Silesia for several years, is the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando”, with the support of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment and the “Baryt” Search and Rescue Unit.

Bolesławiec’s artillery soldiers, together with former commandos, share their experience and familiarise young people with the ins and outs of a soldier’s profession. This year’s military manoeuvres were attended by students from the Henryk Sucharski Vocational School Complex in Złotoryja, the Economic and Technical School Complex in Rakowice, the Upper-Secondary School Complex in Dobrodzień, the Vocational and General Secondary School Complex named after the Miners and Energy Workers of Turów in Zgorzelec, the School Complex in Lubomierz, the I. Domeyko Electronic School Complex in Bolesławiec, and the School Complex named after the Veterans of the Lubań Region in Lubań.
