We were informed about the matter by a Reader. “A cast-iron pipe burst on Kubika Street, and 15 m³ of water was leaking from it per hour,” explains Józef Król, president of Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji in Bolesławiec. “We detected the failure on 25 April thanks to a modern water-network monitoring system. With its help, we reduce unnecessary water losses. It is a fantastic solution, but so far few companies use it.”
The failure was repaired on the same day it was detected. According to the head of PWiK, thanks to the monitoring system, in the first months of 2012 the company managed to reduce water losses by 40%. More information on this subject can be found in the biweekly “Istotne Informacje” (No. 69).
