Residents of the building at 2 Teatralna Street in Bolesławiec are without gas and hot water. A reader contacted the editorial office:

Since August 31 (that is, for more than two weeks already!), residents of the building at 2 Teatralna Street have been completely without gas and hot water due to the replacement of the installation.

The reader also pointed out how burdensome the situation is for the building’s residents, including elderly people and small children:

Having no hot water for washing and no possibility of cooking a hot meal for more than two weeks is an enormous inconvenience for them.

According to the report, the lack of detailed information about the progress of the work is also a problem. The reader claims that employees of the contractor appear on site, but residents do not see any clear results and do not know when the outage will be resolved:

There is no binding schedule whatsoever. No one knows where things stand, when the work will end or when the gas utility will turn the utilities back on.

And he pointed out:

An absurd amount of time: Recently, there was widespread discussion about planned 10-day gas outages in other areas, and people made a major issue of it. Meanwhile, we have already been living without basic utilities for much longer—and there is complete silence.

TBS: this is an outage, not a renovation

We asked Emil Zając, president of the Social Housing Association in Bolesławiec, about the matter. He explained that in the case of the building at 2 Teatralna Street, this is not a planned renovation but a failure of the gas installation.

The installation had developed a leak. After detecting the leak, the gas utility disconnected the gas supply. Everything was done in accordance with safety procedures. TBS then began work related to repairing the installation.

The president stressed that the company treats such situations as a priority, primarily because of residents’ safety. He also added that he encourages residents to make direct contact rather than use intermediaries.

Everything indicates that the work will be completed by the end of September, or perhaps even earlier.

We will return to the subject.
