Słoneczko Children’s Club began operating on 14 April. It is located in a newly constructed building at 2 Bohaterów Getta Street (between the Music School and the market on Wesoła Street).
The Club offers a wide range of activities for children aged 0 to 12, hourly childcare (also in the afternoons) for children from five months to three years of age, an extensive selection of themed birthday parties, and baby showers (parties) for expectant mothers.
Baby showers are a new concept in Poland and completely new in Bolesławiec. The idea of a party for an expectant mother originated in English-speaking countries in the 18th century. At that time, it was an intimate gathering of women over tea, during which the mother-to-be was given gifts (practical items and handmade trinkets). The term comes from the English word “shower” and refers to showering the expectant mother with an outpouring of love and gifts for her baby.
In the Club’s colourful, sunny rooms filled with toys, children can stay with a carer or take part in numerous workshops together with their parents. The most interesting include “The Baby’s Imagination Land” – sensory-motor activities for children from 8 to 18 months of age; Shantala massage for infants and adults; “Active Family” – physical activities for children and parents; “The Brave Preschooler’s Land” – adaptation activities preparing children for preschool; as well as “Sweet Magic Mary” and “Magic Mary with Chemistry”, and “Robotics, theatre classes with Mrs Theatre.”
Themed birthday parties can also be organised at Słoneczko Club. It is a two-hour event with an entertainer and sweet refreshments, combined with a photo session. Children can celebrate birthdays in a circus world, on a pirate treasure island, in an Indian village, in the world of fashion, in Ponyland, as well as at a royal court and in Ariel’s underwater world. Parents and children can also suggest their own birthday theme.
