On April 11, police detained a man suspected of stealing sections of the fence from the military cemetery on Willowa Street. The theft occurred in March. Police findings indicate that the man cut out sections of the fence, then divided them into smaller pieces and sold them at scrap-metal collection points. The stolen fence panels were worth several thousand zlotys. The detained 23-year-old resident of Bolesławiec told police that he was drunk at the time of the theft and wanted to obtain money in this way.
The man faces up to five years in prison for stealing the metal elements.
