For five years, the Council of the Polish Film Institute has appointed a committee for the PISF Awards. This year, it comprised 14 representatives of the Polish film industry. They nominated the cinema in Bolesławiec and the Discussion Film Club operating there for awards.
In the “cinema” category, Forum is competing with Rialto cinema in Poznań and Ars cinema in Kraków. In the Discussion Film Club category, “dkfbok” was nominated alongside DKF “Olbrzym” in Tarnowskie Góry and DKF “Megaron” in Gorzów Wielkopolski.
– You do not receive awards for an empty cinema, so these two nominations are a great distinction for us; we would not have received them without our viewers – says Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK-MCC. – It should also be emphasized that the authorities’ decision to renovate the cinema contributed to its success. The new Forum cinema meets the highest standards and is a friendly and comfortable place for viewers. I absolutely want to mention the employees and their good work here; on this occasion, special recognition is due to Iwona Bojko – the director adds.
The PISF Awards are a special distinction in the film industry, recognizing the work of people and institutions not involved in film production. They are the only Polish awards presented in several categories for significant achievements in disseminating and promoting Polish cinema and facilitating access to Polish film work.
– It will be difficult to beat Poznań or Kraków, but the nomination itself is a sufficient award for me – says Iwona Bojko, deputy director of BOK-MCC.
The ceremonial presentation of the PISF Awards to this year’s winners will take place on 9 May during the 37th Gdynia Film Festival. The winners in each category will receive statuettes designed by Piotr Michnikowski and a cash prize of PLN 15,000.
