– Renewable energy is the future – says Jan Russ, a teacher at Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych and the person behind the creation of a new training course at the school: renewable energy systems and equipment technician. – We hope that our offer will interest young people. Graduates of a school providing training in this profession will certainly have no problems finding work.
– As a member of the European Union, Poland is obliged to obtain increasing amounts of green energy – says Adam Maksymczyk, the director of “mechanik.” – The course we are opening at our school is the beginning of training specialists in this field in Bolesławiec County. In our view, it is a good investment in the future – he adds. – Germany has been focusing on renewable energy for years. But in Lower Silesia, too, there are an increasing number of places where equipment using renewable energy sources is being installed – Jan Russ adds.
A graduate of the school will be able to install, maintain and inspect renewable energy equipment and systems, as well as prepare cost estimates, quotations and contracts concerning such systems. Practical classes will be held in the school workshops and laboratories. What is more, the school intends to cooperate with companies involved in renewable energy (the cooperation will include, among other things, field trips related to the profession).
The new course proposed by the school supplements ZSM’s educational offer (in order to adapt it to the needs of the labor market), while also expanding it in line with trends reflecting the growing demand for specialists implementing renewable energy equipment and systems.
The increase in interest in renewable energy among companies and individual consumers in recent years is connected with the use of equipment that reduces both the cost of obtaining energy and its negative impact on the environment. The shortage of workers with this specialization on the labor market will enable graduates of Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych to find employment immediately after completing their education.
