The incident occurred on Thursday (9 February) before noon, at kilometer 23 of the A4 motorway, near Godzieszów. On the slippery road surface, 10 trucks and 5 passenger cars collided. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries (two people suffered minor injuries). Removing the vehicles from the roadway took emergency services many hours. The motorway toward Wrocław was blocked until the evening. Police marked a detour through Bolesławiec.
The lane toward Wrocław was blocked the longest by 4 trucks. They stood across the motorway. – Firefighters are securing the area because a tanker carrying a hazardous substance is wedged between the trucks – Robert Brzeziński, deputy commander of the Bolesławiec County PSP, told the Istotne.pl portal. Robert Brzeziński – The tanker is not leaking, but we are securing it until it is removed from there. The situation is difficult because the tanker’s chassis is damaged and it cannot be towed away. We are waiting for a crane to arrive – he added. Three PSP units and three OSP units took part in the operation.
