The new car park on Gałczyński Street in Bolesławiec is intended to serve drivers. However, as one Reader reports, lorries regularly stop there, parking across as many as 11 spaces intended for passenger cars. Residents are concerned not only about difficulties with parking, but also about the condition of the new surface, and are calling for the appropriate services and the car park manager to take action.

The new car park on Gałczyński Street in Bolesławiec was intended to make it easier for residents and drivers to find a place to leave their cars. However, according to a report we received from a Reader, the site has become a place where lorries regularly remain parked for long periods.

The problem is said to recur mainly at weekends.

The Reader points out that the lorries not only occupy spaces in the car park, but are also positioned in a way that makes it difficult to use the marked bays.

(…) each lorry blocks approximately 11 marked parking spaces intended for passenger cars across the width of the car park.

They add:

The vehicles regularly park there, occupying the spaces for entire weekends.

Residents are also concerned about the condition of the surface. The car park is new, which raises the question of whether its construction was adapted to the loads caused by heavy vehicles.

“We do not know whether the tonnage of such heavy vehicles is compatible with the construction of the newly built car park, which could lead to its rapid deterioration and the formation of ruts or cracks,” the person who submitted the report points out.

The Reader also draws attention to the response of the services. In their view, the problem is visible, yet no effective intervention takes place. “What is most infuriating is that the situation recurs cyclically, while the services – the Police and the Municipal Police – do not react to the situation during patrols,” they write in the message sent to us.

On behalf of the Reader, we appeal to the car park manager and the appropriate municipal services to examine the situation on Gałczyński Street and check whether the way the lorries are parked complies with the applicable traffic organisation and signage.
