A Reader asked us to publicize the matter of a gate installed in the basement passage of a building on Polna Street in Bolesławiec. The Bolesławiec resident is concerned about keeping this passage clear and the possibility of using the basements in an emergency. (Especially since shelters have been discussed more and more frequently lately.)

We asked the manager about the matter. Jarosław Molenda told istotne.pl:

The multi-family building at 4–4d Polna Street is not one property. Each of its five stairwells is a separate property, and the owners of each make all decisions independently of the others. In addition, not all of the stairwells are under my management.

The gate visible in the photograph was installed by the previous owner. The manager:

The photograph provided shows a gate in stairwell 4a. It was installed by the previous owner and has existed since the building was constructed (according to the block’s first residents).

Not only there

As J. Molenda added: – Gates with an identical design are also located in other stairwells (properties).

Is this a problem?

The manager took steps to determine what should be done in this situation:

Following your report, we asked the fire service to issue an opinion on the matter. Depending on its contents, we will immediately take steps to implement the recommendations.

However, pending the opinion, action was taken regarding barriers in the basement passages. Jarosław Molenda:

Until the opinion is issued, we have called on residents of all stairwells to open all barriers in the basement passage.

He also announced that he would provide information about the next steps in the matter.

What do you think? We invite you to discuss.
