The cargo consisted of metal scrap and metal alloys originating, among other sources, from construction sites, renovations and dismantling, as well as vehicle inspections and maintenance.
During an inspection of the documents and a search of the trailer, officers determined that the transport was being carried out without the document required by law. The shipment had also not been registered in the SENT system, which is used for electronic supervision of the transport of specified goods.
Inspectors from the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection took up the case and classified the shipment as illegal movement of waste. The recipient of the cargo faces a fine of between PLN 10,000 and as much as PLN 1 million.
The shipment was sent back to the sender in Germany.
