Both fires occurred after 2:00 a.m. Two cars were burning in different places on the same street. The first was by the asphalt sports court next to the high-rise building at 36a Gałczyński Street; the second was behind the pizzeria and grocery store at 17 Gałczyński Street.
In the first case, the engine compartment was completely burned out. In the second case, only the car's frame remained, although it is not known whether the vehicle had already been left there as a wreck—the area is close to a car repair shop. The fire was serious, however, because tires lying near the car, right next to the building's wall, also caught fire. Had it not been for the firefighters' intervention, the flames could have spread inside the store and pizzeria.
Residents say that before the fires they first heard some kind of explosion. Police are investigating both cases.
