The new shopping centre on Staroszkolna Street in Bolesławiec is expected to open at the beginning of December. This information was announced during the August session of the Bolesławiec City Council by Mayor Piotr Roman, who also spoke about the progress of the work, the reconstruction of the road system and the expected benefits for the city.
The mayor said that the president of the company carrying out the investment on Staroszkolna Street had appeared in Bolesławiec. According to the information he provided, the work is proceeding according to plan, and the opening of the entire facility is getting closer.
The mayor noted that people travelling through the area of the investment can already see how advanced the work is. The works include not only the facility itself, but also transport infrastructure:
Anyone who drives there can see it. At the moment, both transport-related investments connected with the exit from the city thoroughfare are being carried out, and work inside the facility is also under way.
He added that ZEC had already connected the site to the heating network.
The city is not financing the road construction
One of the topics raised by the mayor was the reconstruction of the road system in the area of the shopping centre. Piotr Roman stressed that the cost of this work is not being covered by the city budget:
I would like this to be made perfectly clear. The City of Bolesławiec is not contributing even a single zloty to this road investment. The entire road investment is being financed by the developer.
He added: – You could even say that we made a little money, because they had to buy certain sections of property back from us in order to straighten out those bends.
What will the shopping centre bring to Bolesławiec?
The city authorities also point to the potential benefits associated with the operation of the new facility. One of them is expected to be new jobs.
– According to the information reaching us, at least seventy people will be employed there, not counting delivery companies – Piotr Roman said.
The city is also counting on additional tax revenue associated with the facility's operations.
– And we do not hide the fact that we also expect quite substantial tax revenue from this place – the mayor added.
If the announced date is met, the new shopping centre on Staroszkolna Street will open at the beginning of December. Work is currently under way at the investment site both on the facility itself and on the road infrastructure and utility connections.
