The Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival is one of the biggest events in the city, but organizing it also involves changes to road traffic. In connection with the 32nd edition of the event, which will take place from August 19 to 23, 2026, drivers must prepare for street closures and restrictions in central Bolesławiec.
As reported by Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury – Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki, the changes are necessary to efficiently prepare for and hold this year's Ceramic Festival. Some streets will be closed before the event begins, and the restrictions will remain in effect after it ends.
Changes will begin before the Ceramic Festival starts
The first restrictions will appear at Józef Piłsudski Square. From 6:00 a.m. on August 18, half of the parking lot will be closed. Then, from 10:00 p.m. that same day, the entire square will be closed. Restrictions at this location will remain in effect until 10:00 p.m. on August 25.
From August 19, changes will affect additional parts of the city center. At 6:00 a.m., the Market Square will be closed. Restrictions on this street will remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. on August 24.
That same day, from 10:00 p.m., Bolesława Prusa and Karpecka streets will be closed. In both cases, the restrictions will remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. on August 24.
More streets will be closed on August 20
The most changes are scheduled from August 20. From 6:00 a.m., Bankowa/Kościelna and Łukasiewicza streets will be closed. In both cases, the restrictions will remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. on August 24.
From 4:00 p.m. on August 20, the following will also be closed:
- K. Miarki Street,
- Asnyka Street along the section by Sierpnia ’80 Street,
- Żwirki i Wigury Street,
- Polna Street,
- Sierpnia ’80 Street in the vicinity of the gate,
- Mickiewicza Street by Sierpnia ’80 Street.
These restrictions will also remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. on August 24.
Separate changes are planned on Asnyka Street in the area of the stage. The closure will take effect on August 20 at 6:00 a.m., and traffic will be restored on August 24 at 4:00 p.m.
Drivers should plan their route in advance
In total, the changes will affect more than a dozen locations in central Bolesławiec. A map prepared by BOK–MCC marks the places where temporary traffic organization will be introduced during the 32nd Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.
In practice, this means that during the event, traveling through part of the city center will be impossible or difficult. Drivers wishing to reach the area around the Market Square, Sierpnia ’80 Street, Asnyka Street or Józef Piłsudski Square should check the applicable restrictions in advance and – if possible – choose a route that avoids the event area.
Changes will continue after the event ends
Although the 32nd Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival will take place from August 19 to 23, not all restrictions will end with the final day of the event. Most closures are scheduled to be lifted on August 24 at 6:00 a.m. The exception is the area around the stage on Asnyka Street, where restrictions will remain in effect until 4:00 p.m. The restrictions connected with Józef Piłsudski Square will last the longest—until 10:00 p.m. on August 25.
Drivers should therefore pay attention to temporary signage and comply with the traffic organization that has been introduced.
