The incident occurred last weekend in Bolesławiec County. The 32-year-old county resident was driving a passenger car when she lost control of the vehicle and then veered into a roadside ditch.
After the accident, the driver left the scene. A passenger was in the car; she was injured in the accident and taken to hospital.
The injured passenger knew only her first name
The police officers handling the case initially did not have the driver’s full details. The injured passenger knew only her first name.
However, this was enough to begin operational activities. Bolesławiec criminal investigators established the woman’s identity and then tracked her down at the place where she was hiding. The 32-year-old was arrested.
During the subsequent procedures, officers also checked whether the woman had been legally entitled to drive a car at the time of the incident.
She had three court-ordered driving bans
It turned out that the 32-year-old should not have been behind the wheel at all. Police systems revealed that the woman was subject to three court-ordered bans on driving all motor vehicles.
The bans were issued by the District Court in Bolesławiec.
However, this was not the only matter the officers had to clarify. Police also suspected that the woman might have been driving under the influence of psychoactive substances.
Consequently, blood was taken from her and submitted for further laboratory testing. Only the results of these tests will establish whether the suspicions that she was driving under the influence of psychoactive substances are confirmed.
The woman was charged
After her arrest, the 32-year-old was brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec. She was charged with driving a vehicle in breach of applicable court-ordered bans, as well as causing a road accident and fleeing the scene.
The prosecutor imposed police supervision as a preventive measure.
The court will decide the 32-year-old’s further fate.
