The detention resulted from actions carried out by officers of the Criminal Department and the Community Police Unit of the Police Station in Bogatynia. The officers searched the premises occupied by the 56-year-old.
Four cannabis plants and a scoped firearm
In one of the outbuildings, police officers found four cannabis plants. During the same activities, they also secured a long firearm equipped with a scope.
The items found were secured and handed over for further examination. The officers will now establish all the circumstances related to their possession.
The detained 56-year-old was taken to the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. Further procedural activities were carried out there with his participation.
He faces a prison sentence
Police remind the public that growing cannabis other than fibrous hemp, pursuant to the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction, may be punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
A significantly harsher penalty applies to possessing a firearm without the required permit. In such a case, the offender may face up to 8 years in prison.
