After a short summer break, football excitement is returning to the pitches of our region. The Lower Silesian Football Association has published the first-round pairings for the Regional Polish Cup of the Jelenia Góra subdistrict. The opening games have already been played, and the next matches will take place on 8–9 August.

The Polish Cup has always operated under its own rules. It is in these competitions that favourites often have to fight for qualification until the final minutes, while teams from lower divisions get the chance to cause an upset and eliminate more decorated opponents.

The participants will also include reserve teams and sides that know the taste of cup competition well. Every match means just one thing – the winner advances, while the loser says goodbye to the competition.

The first whistle of the new edition of the Regional Polish Cup sounded on 1 August, when Leśnik Osiecznica faced Sparta Zebrzydowa. The match ended in a draw, 1:1, but the visitors were better in the penalty shootout, winning 4:2. On 6 August, GKS Tomaszów Bolesławiecki faced Kolegium Sędziów Jelenia Góra. Tomaszów Bolesławiecki won the match 2:1.

The next matches will be played on 6, 8 and 9 August. Who will begin their cup adventure with a win, and who will say goodbye to the competition right at the start?

The remaining teams from our region will begin their cup campaign in the second round. This will include, among others, teams that play regularly in the regional league and higher divisions and which, under the regulations, received a bye in the first stage of the competition. This means that the next rounds will bring even more excitement and interesting encounters.
