The incident occurred on August 5 in the courtyard behind the Market Square. According to the person who submitted the report, the windthrown trees fell directly into the courtyard. As they emphasized:
A danger to pedestrians and children playing there.
The reader also drew attention to bird droppings accumulating at the site:
Trees breaking directly onto vehicles and a mass of droppings in the Market Square.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Strong winds during storms can break branches and uproot entire trees within a few seconds. Road sections running through forests or tree-lined avenues are particularly dangerous, as falling trunks can completely block traffic or fall onto moving vehicles.
The services remind residents that while storm warnings are in effect, it is advisable to limit travel to the necessary minimum and avoid parking cars under trees. Even after the rainfall has stopped, damaged or partially broken trees may pose a serious danger to drivers and pedestrians.
