Reader:
The branch has been cut down; the threat has been removed.
On Tuesday, August 4, our editorial office received a report from a reader, who drew attention to a dangerous situation on Staroszkolna Street in Bolesławiec. It concerns a huge, several-metre-long dead tree branch located at the entrance to furniture stores. According to the resident, it may pose a threat both to pedestrians and passing cars.
The reader says that the problem has been ongoing for several months and that—despite reports to the relevant services—it has still not been resolved:
For several months, on Staroszkolna Street, at the entrance to the furniture stores, a huge, several-metre-long dead tree branch has been threatening people’s health and lives, as well as passing cars. More than a month ago, I informed the City Hall about it. I was told that because the land on which the tree grows is private, the matter had been referred to the Municipal Police for further action.
He added:
After three weeks, I contacted the Municipal Police because there had been no visible action in the matter. Two weeks ago, I received the brief response that “the matter is in progress” and that the owner was looking for a company that could remove the branch. Still, to this day, there have been no results. This must be a joke.
And concluded:
There are at least several companies in Bolesławiec that could carry this out (MZGK, companies involved in maintaining urban greenery and pruning trees). And the branch is still hanging over people’s heads, posing an increasingly serious threat.”
The reader also sent photographs showing the dead branch. Given its size and the place where it is located, the situation may understandably concern residents using this part of the city.
We appeal for action.
