A dangerous situation ended happily thanks to the vigilance of witnesses. Employees of one of the fuel stations in Bolesławiec noticed a 7-year-old boy who was on the premises without adult supervision. Concerned, they immediately notified the emergency services.
A patrol from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec was dispatched to the scene. The officers quickly established that the boy had been playing at a playground a short time earlier and, taking advantage of a moment when his father was not paying attention, had wandered away without his knowledge. He reached a nearby fuel station on his own.
The police established the child’s home address and decided to escort him to his parents. However, an unusual situation occurred during the intervention. The boy refused to get into the police car, explaining that his parents had taught him never to get into a car with strangers. The police officer respected this attitude and decided to walk the 7-year-old home.
The concerned parents were already waiting at home, and their son was returned to them safe and sound. Thanks to the quick response of the fuel station employees and the efficient actions of the police officers, the entire situation ended happily.
This incident is another reminder that, when it comes to young children, just a moment of inattention is enough for a potentially dangerous situation to occur. The police appeal to parents and guardians to exercise particular caution when staying with children at playgrounds, in parks or in other public places.
The officers also emphasize that the appropriate conduct of the fuel station employees was of enormous importance. Their quick report made it possible to begin action immediately and safely return the boy to his family. It is also worth noting the 7-year-old’s behavior: he followed the safety rules taught by his parents and did not get into a car with strangers, even though they were police officers. Thanks to the officer’s sensible decision, the child was able to return home safely on foot under his supervision.
