Services have published an announcement concerning the situation on the Bóbr River. According to information provided by Wody Polskie, monitoring of the section from Pilchowice Dam to Rakowice Small Hydroelectric Power Plant, conducted on Sunday, July 26, found no dead fish.

The inspection also confirmed that the riverbed remains unobstructed. No accumulation of sediment or blockages that could impede the free flow of water was found.

Monitoring probes measuring oxygenation and water temperature continue to operate at the Pilchowice II and Rakowice weirs. Measurements are taken on an ongoing basis, and the results obtained are continuously analyzed by the relevant services. At the same time, activities aimed at detecting water facilities constructed without the required water permits are continuing.

Today, Monday, July 27, in accordance with the schedule, the Powiatowa Stacja Sanitarno-Epidemiologiczna and Wojewódzki Inspektorat Ochrony Środowiska will carry out another collection of water samples from the Bóbr. The laboratory test results are expected to enable further assessment of the situation and determine whether the water parameters remain at a safe level.

The services also remind the public of the earlier WIOŚ test results from July 24. Stable oxygen conditions were recorded in the area of the Pilchowice Dam. A decrease in dissolved oxygen concentration was observed in Marczów, while its level increased in Rakowickie Lake and Włodzice Wielkie. Detailed laboratory analyses of the samples collected that day are still under way.

The position of Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji Dolina Bobru is good news for residents. The company assures that the water supplied to customers in the town and municipality of Wleń, the municipality and town of Lwówek Śląski, Bolesławiec Municipality, the town of Bolesławiec and Jeżów Sudecki Municipality is safe and meets all quality requirements. It was emphasized that the current situation on the river does not affect the quality of tap water because the company uses only deep-water intakes.

Despite the positive results of the latest monitoring, Regulation No. 18 of the Voivode of Lower Silesia of July 4, 2026, introducing a ban on using the waters of the Bóbr along the section from the crest of Pilchowice Dam to the Rakowice Reservoir, remains in force.

The ban covers:

  • entering the water and swimming,
  • watering animals,
  • recreational and commercial fishing,
  • using the water for commercial purposes,
  • using watercraft.

As the services emphasize, the decision to lift the current restrictions will be made only when the test and analysis results unequivocally confirm that using the river poses no threat to people’s health and safety. Until then, the situation on the Bóbr will continue to be monitored by all institutions involved.
