(…) could you look into the non-working elevator at City Hall, in the high-rise building, for people with disabilities? It really makes it impossible to take care of matters, and Mr. Roman probably does not care. The elevator has not been working for several months.

We asked Bolesławiec City Hall about the matter. Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall:

The elevator has been taken out of service. It is permanently damaged. City Hall is preparing a tender for a new elevator, which will be announced in the coming days.

She immediately added:

Currently, visitors can use the side elevator or receive service on the ground floor of the office building, in room 8, after notifying a security employee or an employee of the relevant department in advance (this most often applies to customers of the Civil Affairs Department and the passport office).

The accessibility of public administration buildings is crucial for people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant women and parents with small children. It is in government offices that residents handle matters related to documents, registration, identity cards, passports and other formalities, so the ability to reach the appropriate departments freely should not be restricted.

In the event of an elevator breakdown, the office provides alternative solutions, such as using the side elevator or receiving service on the ground floor after notifying a security employee or the relevant department. Nevertheless, for many people, properly functioning infrastructure remains a basic condition for using public administration services independently and with dignity, which is why residents expect the problem to be resolved as soon as possible.
