“Gazeta Wyborcza” has published an extensive report devoted to Kamil Barczyk, director of St. Łukasz Hospital in Bolesławiec and a councillor of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Assembly. The article presents his professional career, political activities and the development of the facility he runs. The authors draw attention, among other things, to the consolidation of hospitals in Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec and the takeover of further clinics, also outside Lower Silesia. According to “Wyborcza”, specialist facilities in Kraków and Gdańsk are to join the hospital network. For istotne.pl readers, however, many of the topics described are not new.

It was istotne.pl that first revealed information about the hospital’s cooperation with Medask, whose shareholders are doctors associated with the Bolesławiec facility. We also described the purchase of Telewizja Bolesławiec by the company.

We were also the first to report on the controversial gala organised by the hospital-affiliated foundation. The event sparked widespread attention, among other reasons, because of the names of alcoholic drinks such as “Zgon”, “Reanimacja” and “Pacjent Zero” served during the event, as well as the lack of a public accounting of the finances.

The issues described by istotne.pl were later also taken up by national media, including “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

In its report, the newspaper also recalls Kamil Barczyk’s candidacy in the 2023 Senate elections. It is worth recalling that before the vote, we conducted a survey on istotne.pl, asking readers whether the hospital director would win a Senate seat. A decisive majority answered that he would not. The final election result confirmed the assessment of the participants in our poll.

The activities of St. Łukasz Hospital, the foundation and Medask have remained one of the most important topics we have followed for many months. All previous publications concerning these matters can be found under the “GT hospital and foundation” tag on our website.
