The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski has brought charges against a 90-year-old city resident. The man is suspected of psychologically and physically abusing his 86-year-old wife. According to the investigators’ findings, the violence allegedly occurred for several years—from 2021 to July 11, 2026.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspect, while under the influence of alcohol, allegedly regularly started domestic arguments. During them, he allegedly insulted his wife, threatened to kill her, disturbed her nighttime rest, and also used physical violence. Investigators indicate that the woman was, among other things, pulled by the hair, pushed, and hit on the head.

The latest incident occurred on July 11, 2026. The investigation indicates that during another argument, the 90-year-old man hit his wife on the head. The woman fell and hit her head on the bathtub, sustaining a blunt-force wound to the frontal region.

After officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski intervened, the man was arrested. The prosecutor’s office charged him with abusing a close family member and causing minor bodily harm.

The suspect did not plead guilty to the alleged offenses and gave an explanation. The prosecutor’s office reported that he had no previous criminal record.

Non-custodial preventive measures were applied to the 90-year-old man. The prosecutor placed him under police supervision, prohibited him from contacting the injured party or coming within 50 meters of her, and ordered him to leave the apartment they shared.

The alleged offenses are punishable by between 3 months and 5 years in prison.
