A dangerous incident occurred on Sunday, 19 July, on the road connecting Krzyżowa with Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. At 4:09 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to remove a spilled petroleum-based substance that posed a serious threat to road users.

While reaching the scene and determining the length of the spill, a fire crew encountered a road collision in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. According to information provided by the firefighters, the incident was connected with the substance spilled on the roadway, which significantly reduced the road surface’s grip.

After completing their work at the collision, the firefighters returned to removing the hazard. It turned out that the spilled substance extended over approximately 8 kilometres, requiring the involvement of many personnel and resources and the securing of a considerable section of the road.

The operation involved securing the scene and removing the petroleum-based substance from the roadway in order to restore safe conditions for drivers. During the operation, drivers were urged to exercise particular caution on this section of the road.
The operation involved crews from OSP KSRG Krzyżowa, OSP KSRG Różyniec, JRG Bolesławiec, OSP KSRG Warta Bolesławiecka, OSP Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, and Police officers.

The services remind the public that even a small amount of oil or other petroleum-based substances on the roadway can lead to loss of vehicle control. If you notice a similar hazard, immediately notify emergency services and exercise particular caution when driving through the area.
