She wrote to us: Reader:
I would like to raise the issue of a playground for children in the so-called Osiedle Kwiatowe. Unfortunately, there is no proper playground. Once, when I wrote to the city saying that there was no playground in this neighborhood, an official replied that there were playgrounds, even two—on Różana Street, I believe, and another one somewhere else. But the man who replied to me apparently does not know what a playground is. Two swings and a slide do not make a playground; there should be somewhat more equipment. There are large playgrounds next to one another in the city, where children socialize and get to know one another, but we have nothing here. The children do not know one another because they have nowhere to meet and play together. There is an Orlik and an outdoor gym, but someone has clearly forgotten about the youngest residents of Osiedle Kwiatowe.
She added:
And there is a location—for example, near the church, there is even a prepared surface; all that is needed is to install some nice equipment for children. The area is fenced and adapted for a playground.
She also suggested:
All that is needed is to install a nice slide, something for climbing, a trampoline, and so on. Unfortunately, the councilors are also doing nothing about this, even though there are various programs worth using. The city is constantly selling building plots there, and people are building homes—mostly young people with small children—but unfortunately no one thinks about what these children are supposed to do all day in the neighborhood, because there is absolutely nothing for them. We are residents of Bolesławiec, but someone has clearly forgotten about this part of the city.
She also noted:
Every village, even the smallest one, has great playgrounds for children, as you can see when traveling around, but Osiedle Kwiatowe has none. It is not even really possible to use the Orlik, because it is constantly occupied—there are training sessions or young people hanging out there—so in reality, the children have nowhere to play. Attached is a photo of the location where such a playground could be built; there is already a safe surface there, so all that is needed is to install the equipment and it is ready. Please raise this issue (...).
We asked the city authorities about the matter and are awaiting a response.
