During a dangerous road incident on Saturday at around 8:00 p.m. in Stara Oleszna, according to the police’s preliminary findings, a 33-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County driving an Audi caused a collision with a Ford while overtaking.

After officers intervened, it turned out that the driver was intoxicated. The test showed 0.7 promille of alcohol in his system.

The man was detained by police. He will face charges not only for driving a vehicle while intoxicated, but also in connection with the circumstances of the road incident, which will be examined in detail during the ongoing proceedings.

Driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated is punishable by up to three years in prison. The court may also impose a long-term driving ban and other consequences provided for by law.

Police once again remind drivers that even a small amount of alcohol significantly reduces concentration, lengthens reaction time and increases the risk of causing an accident or collision. Officers appeal to drivers to act responsibly and strictly observe traffic regulations.
