The situation on the Bóbr River after the Pilchowice Reservoir was drained remains under constant supervision by emergency services. As reported following a meeting of the Poviat Crisis Management Team in Lwówek Śląski, ongoing tests indicate a deterioration in selected water-quality parameters associated with the movement of sediment from the reservoir.

Since June 30, employees of the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection have been collecting water and bottom-sediment samples along a stretch of approximately several kilometres below the dam. Today's test results were compared with samples collected the previous day.

According to the information provided, sediment entering from the reservoir is affecting some water-quality parameters. At the same time, detailed chemical analyses of the bottom sediments are being carried out to determine their composition and potential impact on the environment.

The full test results are not yet available. Given the scope of the laboratory analyses, the first conclusions regarding the composition of the sediments are expected no earlier than the beginning of next week.

A meeting of the Poviat Crisis Management Team was held in Lwówek Śląski, attended by Lower Silesian Voivode Anna Żabska. A meeting of the Voivodeship Crisis Management Team was also announced, with representatives of the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, the State Sanitary Inspection, Wody Polskie, TAURON and other services and institutions responsible for operations in the region.

In addition, the State Sanitary Inspection collected samples from the deep-water intake in Wleń and declared its support for municipality residents regarding the testing of samples from private wells.

At the same time, equipment for oxygenating the water, at the disposal of Wody Polskie and cooperating services, is being prepared. TAURON is taking measures to limit the movement of sediment from the Pilchowice Reservoir while maintaining the required biological flow.

Emergency services are appealing to the public not to enter the Bóbr River and to avoid direct contact with the water until the situation stabilizes. Monitoring is being conducted around the clock, and further information is to be provided after the meeting of the Voivodeship Crisis Management Team concludes.
