Drivers continue to point out difficulties related to traffic organization in the area of the new bridge over the Bóbr River in Bolesławiec. A reader contacted our editorial office, believing that solutions making passage easier could be sought during the ongoing works.

“I am writing about this unfortunate entrance to and exit from Bolesławiec... after all, the company has so many ways to enable us to get through more easily during the renovation,” she stated.

Changes at the new bridge

The problem with traffic organization in this area had already arisen earlier. After the new bridge opened at the end of August, drivers repeatedly violated the ban on turning left near the Orlen station.

As we reported on September 15, another change was introduced there. The red-and-white barriers preventing vehicles from leaving the petrol station by turning left toward the new bridge were extended.

We have established that these measures were related to violations of regulations and safety issues. The traffic-organization solutions were developed by uniformed officers together with the station owner.

Drivers ask whether more can be done

The reader’s current message concerns a broader problem, however: how traffic is organized during the ongoing renovation and the difficulties on routes leading to and from Bolesławiec.

According to the reader, there may be more ways to improve the situation. Above all, this concerns solutions that would allow drivers to pass through the area of the works more efficiently, without violating applicable regulations or making risky maneuvers.

This is also important because, with heavy traffic, even minor restrictions can cause additional traffic jams and lengthen travel times.

We ask GDDKiA about possible changes

We asked the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways whether additional solutions could be introduced under the current traffic organization to make it easier for drivers to pass through this area of Bolesławiec.

We will return to the subject.
