Police officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec checked addresses and places where people evading criminal responsibility might be staying. Officers from various departments took part in the operation, determining the whereabouts of wanted individuals and carrying out arrest warrants issued by the courts.
The two-day operation resulted in the detention of 10 people wanted in connection with unresolved legal matters.
The most severe sentence to be served was that of a 53-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality. The man was detained by criminal department officers. He was wanted in connection with an offense involving the distribution of narcotic drugs. He will spend nearly three years in prison.
Among those detained was also a 41-year-old man wanted by the District Court in Głogów. Police officers from the station in Kruszyn established his whereabouts and detained him. The man has a two-year prison sentence to serve for burglary.
District officers from Bolesławiec detained another person wanted for a similar offense. In accordance with the court's decision, the 34-year-old will spend one year and two months in prison.
A 37-year-old man wanted for burglary was also sentenced to one year in prison. A 22-year-old man convicted of offenses against property has the same sentence to serve.
Some of those detained were also wanted in connection with committed misdemeanors. Some avoided substitute imprisonment by paying fines previously imposed by the court.
During the operation, Bolesławiec police officers, together with Border Guard officers, also detained a foreign national staying illegally in Poland. The man was handed over to the Border Guard Post in Zgorzelec, where further proceedings are underway related to issuing a decision obliging him to leave the country.
Police remind the public that people hiding from justice cannot count on avoiding responsibility. Officers regularly carry out operations aimed at detaining wanted individuals and bringing them before courts or to correctional facilities.
