As reported by the firefighters from Wierzbowa:
Today, we were dispatched to a fire at a tire and rubbish storage site in Gromadka. At the scene, we worked together with OSP Różyniec, OSP Gromadka and PSP Bolesławiec.
The fire broke out on the grounds of a former cast-iron foundry in Gromadka. Dense clouds of black smoke appeared over the scene, visible from a great distance. The information quickly spread among residents, who drew attention to the intense smoke rising over the area.
The fire engulfed tires stored on the plant premises. The waste had been illegally dumped there. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, carried out firefighting operations and prevented the flames from spreading further.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished. The services are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident. The police are determining how the tires ended up at the former foundry and what caused the fire to break out.
