Our editorial office was contacted by a reader:
Wouldn’t it be worthwhile to look into the TBS buildings? Because I believe that 60–70% of the apartments are being rented out by third parties, meaning that the people who received the apartments from TBS are not living there. And I know that many people are waiting for such apartments.
She added:
Shouldn’t something be done about this? After all, people who received apartments from TBS are prohibited from renting them out.
She also noted:
I have a friend who rents an apartment on Śluzowa Street and a female friend who rents one on Wąska Street, but they are not the owners of these apartments. They claim that most of the apartments in these buildings are sublet, but apparently the CEO tacitly allows it.
We asked the company mentioned above about the matter. CEO Emil Zając confirmed that a tenant may not sublet an apartment. He stressed that TBS monitors how the units are used. He also said that whenever reports of irregularities are confirmed, the company takes decisive action.
However, as E. Zając told istotne.pl, only two such cases were confirmed during his tenure as CEO. In both cases, the company took firm action and terminated the tenancy agreement.
But if residents have information about such practices, the CEO of Bolesławiec TBS encourages them—including our reader—to report specific addresses to the company. As he emphasizes, this can also be done anonymously.
