As Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall, explains:

The trees were given numerical markings in order to conduct an inventory of the greenery, that is, to measure the existing trees – on the basis of the contract concluded for the implementation of the investment entitled: “Development of the OWS area at 24 Spacerowa Street in Bolesławiec – stage II,” which is being carried out under a design-and-build system. The contractor has begun preparing the design documentation. It is currently being prepared. An accurate inventory of the locations of the trees makes it possible to design the facility in such a way as to interfere with the existing trees as little as possible.

She adds: – The inventory also includes checking the condition of the trees and carrying out maintenance work, such as trimming dry branches; a dendrological inventory is necessary when performing maintenance work.

She also adds: – Removing trees requires obtaining a decision from the Bolesławiec Starost. Decisions permitting tree removal include an obligation to carry out replacement plantings.

Let us recall. In mid-May, a reader wrote to us:

We often walk to the summer swimming pools on Spacerowa Street. The greenery and a break from the hustle and bustle, among other things, are a pleasure.

He added:

However, we are troubled by the orange paint markings on the trees; I should point out: MANY trees.

And he noted:

We wondered whether City Hall had authorized this. After all, two years ago you wrote a petition concerning tree cutting in the MOSIR area and asked the press spokesperson (she assured us that the trees would remain untouched).
