A dangerous incident involving a paraglider occurred on Sunday, 17 May, at around 12:00 p.m., on Strażacka Street in Świeradów-Zdrój. According to preliminary information, the man fell from a height—probably while performing a landing maneuver.
Numerous emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Those involved included firefighters from OSP Świeradów-Zdrój and JRG Lubań, as well as an emergency medical team from Gryfów Śląski and a police patrol.
A Polish Medical Air Rescue helicopter was also dispatched to the incident. Ultimately, however, the helicopter was turned back.
The paraglider, with a suspected spinal injury, was transported to hospital. Police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.
This is another paragliding accident in our region in recent times. At the end of April, we reported that a paraglider had fallen from a height of around 20 metres in the area of Góra Szybowcowa.
