Last week, a driver traveling on the A4 motorway toward Zgorzelec informed us about traffic disruptions which, he claims, occur regularly and have remained unresolved for a long time.

The problem occurs near the Godzieszów exit, where, according to drivers, traffic is obstructed by cars waiting to enter the fuel station. “We stand for an hour on the emergency lane to exit the A4 toward Godzieszów. Drivers refueling at E100 block the road all the way to the A4 exit. The police have been called several times, without any effect,” he wrote.

He added that there was no such problem at the Orlen station. He also suggested changing the traffic arrangements.

We asked E100 about the matter. Artur Kędzierski, the company’s PR Manager:

Yes, we are aware of the problem and receive reports from drivers concerning queues near the Godzieszów exit. Traffic at this location is very heavy, and the situation periodically intensifies, including during temporary operational restrictions at the station resulting from technical or service-related issues.

He added:

At the same time, the station’s popularity—as the largest automated facility of this type in Poland, handling intensive international traffic on the A4 route—means that vehicles accumulate during peak periods.

What measures has E100 taken?

Artur Kędzierski:

We have taken specific measures to reduce congestion and improve service flow:

  • we have introduced the permanent presence of an employee directing traffic on the station premises, who ensures the efficient movement of vehicles and eliminates unnecessary stops,
  • we are redirecting some traffic to nearby E100 stations, offering the same pricing conditions there as at the station in Godzieszów,
  • we maintain direct communication with customers, encouraging them to use alternative locations in the region.

He further added:

These measures are intended to reduce traffic intensity at a single location and improve the convenience of service for drivers. It should be noted, however, that the effects of changes involving traffic redirection and communication with customers require time—drivers act based on their habits and gradually adjust their choice of refueling locations.

Is a change to the entrance arrangements being considered?

Spokesperson: – We are analyzing possible solutions, including the organization of entry and traffic handling. It should be noted, however, that any changes extending beyond the station premises require consultation with the relevant institutions responsible for traffic management and safety on public roads.

He also assured: – We are open to cooperation in this area and want to develop solutions that will be safe for all road users.
