A serious accident occurred on Thursday morning on the A4 motorway toward Legnica. At the 100-kilometre mark, before the Mikołajowice interchange, a van collided with a truck. One person was injured, and the carriageway from Wrocław toward Legnica was completely blocked.
As the duty officer of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Legnica told Radio Wrocław, the emergency services received the report at around 5:40 a.m. Firefighters, police officers and a medical rescue team were immediately sent to the scene.
According to the emergency services’ preliminary findings, two people were travelling in the vehicles. One of them sustained injuries and required medical assistance.
As a result of the incident, the A4 motorway toward Legnica was completely closed to traffic. Drivers should expect major difficulties and traffic jams forming in the area of the incident.
Emergency services recommend leaving the motorway at the Budziszów interchange and using the detour along provincial road No. 345. The disruptions may last for several more hours. Police are appealing to drivers to exercise caution, follow the instructions of the emergency services and monitor current traffic announcements.
