Before the May Day long weekend began, on the last day of April, officers from the Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu arrested as many as five people driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Four of those arrested were driving motor vehicles, while one person was riding a bicycle. Among the car drivers, one was in a state after consuming alcohol, while three were intoxicated.

The most concerning case involved a resident of lubański county. A test showed more than one per mille of alcohol in his system. This level significantly affects the ability to drive and poses a real danger to other road users.

Officers from the Preventive Division intervened against a cyclist who was traveling through the city while under the influence of alcohol. Although such behavior is often downplayed, it is also dangerous and subject to legal liability.

Officers remind the public that driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated is a crime. It carries a penalty of up to three years in prison, a driving ban and heavy fines. Cyclists may also face serious financial consequences.

The police appeal for common sense and responsibility. Even a small amount of alcohol can significantly reduce reaction time and the ability to assess the situation on the road.
