It should have been a day to appreciate firefighters’ work; unfortunately, it brought another disappointment. Firefighters from Osiecznica reported another theft, which took place precisely on... Firefighters’ Day. It is another such case recently.

Firefighters:

On Firefighters’ Day, things like this… what kind of person do you have to be to steal like that…

Not the first time

The incident is causing strong emotions because similar events have occurred before. In the first half of March, two men took items from a collection organized by firefighters. The equipment was supposed to be sold, with the money intended for the “purchase of necessary equipment for the volunteer fire department.”

The losses were estimated at approximately PLN 1,000. When one of the perpetrators realized that everything had been recorded and that the matter concerned the volunteer fire department, he returned the stolen items.

Police officers from the Nowogrodziec and Bolesławiec area quickly identified the suspects. The 19-year-old was charged with theft, while the 45-year-old faced as many as five charges, including driving despite having his license revoked. The older man was also wanted to serve a prison sentence.

Thefts despite the publicity

Despite the arrests and the publicity surrounding the case, the situation did not improve. A few days after those events, another incident occurred—a saw disappeared from the collection site. The perpetrator also returned it after realizing that he had been recorded.

Now the story is repeating itself.

Growing frustration among firefighters

The firefighters make no secret of their disappointment. They had previously emphasized that the collection site was monitored and that every theft was recorded. At the same time, they thanked residents for their support and for donating equipment.

Let us hope that this time, too, the perpetrator of the theft will face the consequences.
