The tree near MZGM in Bolesławiec caught the attention of our Reader. In an email to the editorial office, they wrote:

What happened to the tree in front of the MZGM facility? Can it be pruned like this?

And indeed. The tree has been very heavily pruned—only the trunk and thick branches remain. It is therefore no surprise that this has sparked controversy. Such radical pruning is not often seen in urban spaces. At first glance, it may look surprising, but similar treatments are sometimes used in specific situations.

This type of pruning may have various causes—from safety considerations and the need to remove damaged or diseased parts of the tree to issues related to infrastructure or visibility along the road.

At this stage, it is not yet known who was responsible for carrying out the work or what its direct reason was. It is worth remembering, however, that maintaining trees in public spaces often involves the need to reconcile many different considerations.
