This was the first time that knights from Bolesławiec took part in such an important nationwide series of tournaments. The qualifiers comprised five events held in Kraków, Wrocław, Grunwald and Gdynia, with the final taking place in Warsaw. In terms of prestige, they rank second only to the Polish Championships held at Grunwald.

The country’s best competitors took part in the events. At stake was the opportunity to represent Poland at the World Championships in Denmark. Earning a place on the national team was not easy, as only the top two competitors in each category qualified.

Janek Wasilewicz, a competitor representing Bolesławieckie Stowarzyszenie Miecza, came very close to qualifying. The representative of the City of Ceramics finished the competition series in third place overall—in two knight-fighting formats.

During the entire series, the Bolesławiec competitor reached the podium five times, taking two first places, one second place and two third places. “That is still an outstanding result, considering the prestige and level of competition,” the association emphasizes.

Poland’s third-ranked knight in two fighting formats trains every day in Bolesławiec, where he also leads knight-fighting classes. He further develops his skills at Wrocławska Szkoła Miecza.

For the local community, this is a historic moment and proof that Bolesławiec can successfully compete with the largest centers in Poland. Janek Wasilewicz’s result shows that our city now has competitors capable of fighting for the highest honors.

Bolesławieckie Stowarzyszenie Miecza adds: – Congratulations, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for your next competitions!
