A police patrol from Lwówek Śląski stopped a 36-year-old resident of Lwówek County who tried to flee a traffic stop on a moped in Płóczki Górne on Wednesday afternoon. The man did not respond to the patrol car’s visual and audible signals and, after a brief chase, drove onto the grounds of a property. There, he tried to hide the two-wheeler under a blanket.

The intervention began when police officers noticed a moped passenger riding without the required protective helmet. The officers decided to stop the vehicle for a traffic check. Instead of stopping, the rider accelerated and began to flee.

The police immediately set off after him. After a while, the man turned onto the grounds of a property, where he abandoned the vehicle and ineptly tried to cover his tracks.

The 36-year-old was arrested. The officers quickly established his identity.

As it turned out, there were many more reasons for his flight. The man has a lifetime ban on driving motor vehicles. In addition, he was wanted to serve a prison sentence of more than four years.

During the proceedings, the police also found drugs in the form of marijuana in his backpack. A test also showed that he was under their influence.

– The man will now face the court for the crimes he committed. After the necessary procedures were completed, he was placed in pre-trial detention – reports junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the Lwówek police command.
