After a report was received by the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec, an incident occurred. A witness reported a heavy goods vehicle driving dangerously, whose driving style indicated that the driver might be intoxicated. The information was immediately passed on to patrols on duty in the area.
The officers quickly located the indicated vehicle and stopped it for inspection. A breathalyzer test confirmed the informant’s suspicions—the 57-year-old resident of Złotoryja County was completely drunk.
Thanks to the witness’s decisive response and the police officers’ efficient action, a potential tragedy on the road was prevented.
The man will now face the court. He faces up to 3 years in prison, a high fine and a driving ban.
