Paweł Kowal is a final-year secondary-school student. He is in the third year of a biology and chemistry class. Paweł enjoys swimming, skiing and playing tennis. He wants to become a doctor. Biology is his passion.

In the Lower Silesian stage, Paweł came second and went on to the national competition together with the country’s 100 best biology students. Ultimately, after several stages of competition, he finished in eighth place, earning the title of second-degree laureate and, consequently, admission to a higher-education institution. It is also worth noting that Paweł received an award for the tests he completed in English, as well as an award and a distinction for the research paper he had to prepare in order to compete in the Olympiad.

“You could say that Paweł worked for his success for three years,” says Jolanta Sikora, the biology teacher who prepared him, the Olympiad supervisor and the student’s form tutor. The competition organizers also rewarded the school Paweł attends. I LO received a microscope and a set of magnifying glasses as a gift.
