On Thursday, 9 April, before Saturday’s publication of the article How to calculate your pay and task bonus at Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec”, we asked the president of Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec” (ZCB), Arkadiusz Grzesiowski, about the transparency of the company’s remuneration system, the structure of remuneration shown on pay slips, and changes concerning salary allowances.
We asked whether Zakłady plan to introduce solutions that will enable employees to verify their remuneration more easily and transparently. What was the purpose of introducing the change whereby piece-rate pay is not shown as a single item, but as the sum of basic pay and a task bonus, and does the Management Board believe that the current form of presenting remuneration is sufficiently clear to employees? We also asked what the reasons were for certain remuneration components, such as the seniority allowance and hazardous-work allowance, disappearing from pay slips, and whether Zakłady are considering introducing solutions to compensate for their effects?
Below is the president’s response to the above questions. At the same time, we remind readers that since 11 March 2026 we still have not received the president’s answers to the following questions:
- Will the Management Board pay annual bonuses to employees for 2025?
- Will the social fund be increased by optional contributions for pensioners and people with disabilities?
- Will employees receive additional health insurance allowing faster access to medical services?
- How many of the 420 employees received the 15% pay rises you mentioned in the YouTube interview, and how many employees received smaller pay rises?
- Will pay rises continue in the coming months/quarters? On what principles will decisions be made?
- What are the general assumptions of the remuneration policy for this year?
- How is the “standardisation” of departments carried out, and how does it affect the amount of pay rises?
Ladies and Gentlemen,
with reference to the published material concerning remuneration rules at Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec”, we kindly present our position regarding the procedure for handling the editorial inquiry.
The questions were sent on Thursday evening, which in practice meant that their analysis and work on a response could only begin on the following working day. Given the scope of the issues raised—which required data verification and internal consultations—the preparation of a reliable and complete position required an appropriate amount of time.
The publication of the material on Saturday meant that no real deadline was provided to enable a response to the submitted questions before publication. In our assessment, this limited the possibility of presenting the Company’s full and substantive position, which is of significant importance for maintaining an informational balance.
At the same time, we wish to emphasise that we remain open to cooperation with your editorial office and to providing answers in the future, provided that adequate time is allowed for their preparation.
Re 1. All Company employees are remunerated on the basis of a monthly basic salary, and none of the employees receives remuneration under a piece-rate system. In addition, employees performing work assigned to specific positions are entitled to a task bonus, which is the difference between the valuation of the employee’s work and their basic remuneration. Employees may at any time obtain information from their direct supervisor about the current valuation of their work. Therefore, there are no obstacles preventing transparent verification of remuneration.
Re 2. Since none of the employees is remunerated under a piece-rate system, it is neither possible nor purposeful to show piece-rate remuneration on payment slips (referred to by you as pay slips).
Re 3. Payment slips (referred to by you as pay slips) do not contain information about remuneration components that are not paid. The seniority allowance and hazardous-work allowance have been incorporated into basic salaries and task rates, and all employees were informed about the remuneration components to which they were entitled, confirming receipt of this information by signing their employment contracts.
President Arkadiusz Grzesikowski
