According to the available information, the well was used as a source of drinking water, and in the past it was also equipped with a hand pump. There are still people who, as they claim, drank water from this well.

As Kazimierz Łomotowski, director of the Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Mieszkaniowej, informed us, the well was secured 10 years ago by installing a glass panel to protect its interior. In subsequent years, due to cases of vandalism, including climbing onto and damaging the structure, an additional safeguard in the form of a metal grille was installed.

These measures were also necessary because of contamination appearing inside the well. In the past, waste such as cigarette butts and other litter was thrown inside, requiring intervention and the cleaning of the structure.

Today, the well remains secured and serves as an element of public space with a historical and educational character. It may be of interest to residents and visitors, reminding them of past urban life and the importance of local water sources.
