There are fewer and fewer benches, and on some park paths there is nowhere to sit and rest. This mainly affects older people who enjoy walking through the green areas of Bolesławiec.
There is a lack of benches in the city Planty area near the graduation tower. A similar situation occurs on Piaskowa Street and in the park on Garncarska Street.
We sent an inquiry to the office about this matter. We publish the response from the Municipal Housing Management Authority:
Good morning,
In response to your inquiry, I inform you that:
The benches were removed following numerous reports from residents who pointed out frequent disturbances of peace and order in their vicinity. An analysis of the use of public space in the Planty area and in the park on Garncarska Street confirmed that these places rarely served a recreational purpose and more often became a source of nuisance for nearby residents.
The decision was made out of concern for the comfort and safety of the local community. The priority is for the green space to be calm, clean and welcoming to all users. At the same time, options for locating benches in other, more suitable places are being examined, where they will genuinely serve residents’ need for rest, including that of older people.
Kind regards,
Justyna Foremna
