The dam in Pilchowice is undergoing renovation. (We have reported on this several times in these pages.) The work has resulted in unexpected discoveries. (More on this subject can be found in the reports Secrets of Lake Pilchowickie. Our bomb-disposal specialists in action! Another discovery of this type was made last Sunday. As the daily lwowecki.info reports:

An object resembling a projectile from World War II was found on the shoreline of the lake exposed by the water.

The police were notified and sent an officer from the Non-Establishment Mining and Pyrotechnic Reconnaissance Group to the site. It turned out that the heavily corroded artifact was most likely a German recoilless anti-tank grenade launcher—the Panzerfaust.

The matter was handled by personnel from the Bolesławiec Bomb-Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. On Tuesday afternoon, the soldiers removed the dangerous object.
